Believe it or not I have not been hibernating. True I have not posted since *cough-cough*. Excuse me as I am battling a cold.
I have enjoyed every snow covered minute of this past winter and one highlight didn’t involve trudging through the snow until after the event.
This February I was able to attend the Angel Foundation Gala. The Angel Foundation, for those of you who have not heard of them, is a foundation that helps support cancer patients and their families. I whole heartedly support what they do and have seen first hand the positive effects their generosity gives.
My husband and I strolled around, sipped wine, met wonderful people and laughed along with James Denton. And since I am very much a girl: I wore a beautiful Vera Wang gown of dark blue and loved it! But the fun of the evening dimmed in comparison to the cancer survivors in attendance that shared their stories.
There are courageous people in the world. Some win. Some loose. Their strength gives me hope that someday we will beat this thing we call cancer. Until we do I will continue to donate and volunteer my time to support those who fight. And hopefully someday I will be able to walk through the chemo area and hand my patients a book I wrote. One that will take their minds away from pain and uncertainty into an alternate world and escape.
