When I pick up a puppy I cuddle them to my chest and kiss their head. If you are lucky they will give you a little kiss in return, giving you a tiny puff of puppy breath. Then I burry my nose in their soft fur. Breathe deep and you get a nice mix of Redwood chips from the den’s bedding and that sweet scent that only puppies can have.
Same goes for a new book. After staring at the cover art, taking in every detail before reading and re-reading everything on the cover, I open the pages and stick my nose inside. My lungs expand, filling with the heavenly aroma of fresh printed words and crisp paper. An experience topped only by actually beginning to read the anticipated book. Well, that and the rival smell of puppies.
And since they are so cute, here are two more pictures!
