Whatever malleable material you compare to life will fit. For me and my three little kiddos it was cookie dough. And on this rare occasion they all agreed to cut out stars. Not each star is perfect and there is a lot of wasted dough but they loved every minute of this.
Much like my fist book convention experience. As armed as I was with the tips and hints given on the Word Whores Blog I was a newbie to the con scene. I wish I would have talked to some and had remembered to trade contact info with others. On the flip side I forced myself to sit by new people at every lunch and session and I even engaged some of the speakers. And it paid off.
I met some amazing people and some who were just down right fun. Fellow book lovers are easy to talk with because we all love books! The other aspiring authors came from a wide background and were at different points of their writing process. And of course there were the published authors, self-pub and traditional alike. Most of them were happy to be there and very kind to answer questions or sign books.
On my next con I know I will be excited to meet more of the authors that populate my night stand and I will look forward to the new friends I will meet. In the end, I made this event fun.
